For my latest visual development project I chose to take the classic comic strip story “Little Nemo in Slumberland”, written by Winsor McCay, and place it in India. Nemo is based in modern day India and taken to the magical world of Slumberland which is styled in the vein of the Arabian Nights. I chose to center on character development and costume design for this project.

omg these designs are adorable - I get this throwback like..rainbow bright/strawberry shortcake vibe while at the same time thinking any of them could throw down in an deserted alleyway with a sharpened candycane.

Moebius is approached by Tokyo Movie Shinsha to do concept design work and script revisions for their animated feature film based on Winsor McCay’s comic strip Little Nemo in Slumberland.
P.S. Hayao Miyazaki was heavily involved in production early on, even making a test film, but left citing difficulties years before Moebius came on board.
..holy shit
